Protects Sensitive Computing Equipment and USB Peripherals in Medical Environments
The U234-000-UGI makes it easier to integrate non-medical USB devices into ME (Medical Environment) systems by creating a 6kV DC isolation barrier between the host and peripheral to reduce risk from electrical surges and EMI (electromagnetic interference)/RFI (radio frequency interference) line noise. The isolator can protect critical equipment with 6,000V isolation for up to one minute. The IP40 housing protects against solid substances of one millimeter or more.
Complies with IEC 60601-1 Standards for Use in Patient Care Vicinities
The U234-000-UGI complies with IEC 60601-1 and EMC/IEC 60601-1-2 safety standards for a network connection between a medical device and an Ethernet network or non-medical device (PC or laptop). Because it meets IEC 60601-1 standards, this medical isolator can be used in patient care vicinities. It is 2MOPP certified to provide a redundant layer of electric protection. It is also UL/cUL recognized (E531095) and it meets CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1 safety standards.
Plug-and-Play for Immediate Use
Just connect the included USB cable's USB-B plug to the isolator's "Upstream" port, then the cable's USB-A plug to the host device. Connect the desired USB peripheral to isolator's "Downstream" USB-A port with a user-supplied cable. A blue LED will illuminate to indicate a connection has been established and the device can be used. The self-powered U234-000-UGI can provide an isolated 5V DC @ 250mA current output.
Note
: If a connected device requires more power consumption than 250mA, the connected device may not operate normally or may fail to be recognized by the host. If this occurs, an optional DC power supply (not included) must be used to provide external power for the installation. The U234-000-UGI shall only be used with a medical-grade DC power supply that meets 2MOPP, is certified and is suitable for the application.
TAA-Compliant for GSA Schedule Purchases
The U234-000-UGI is compliant with the Federal Trade Agreements Act (TAA), which makes it eligible for GSA (General Services Administration) Schedule and other federal procurement contracts.
