The Exchange Server Standard CAL provides access to e-mail, shared calendaring and Outlook Web Access (OWA). In addition you will get advancements that reduce the cost and complexity of the messaging system by giving IT Administrators the messaging protection their company demands, the anywhere access which their end users want, and the reliability which they need.

A CAL is required for each user or device (depending on the license) accessing the server. Standard Edition CALs may be used with either the Standard or Enterprise editions of SQL Server.

Features included with the Exchange Server Standard CAL include the following: e-mail, shared calendaring, contacts, tasks, management, Outlook Web Access, and Exchange ActiveSync.

(Note: additive licenses are available which provide unified messaging, managed e-mail folders, Exchange hosted filtering, and more. These licenses are known as Exchange Server Enterprise CALs and they must be purchased IN ADDITION to this Standard Edition CAL.)
