The 1U (1.75 inch) high, 5-Module Managed Power Chassis can be mounted in a 19-inch or 23-inch rack and features dual hot-swappable redundant power supplies. Universal AC or 48VDC power supplies can be used in any combination. The power supplies operate in load-sharing mode for improved reliability and fault tolerance.

When used with the iConverter management module, the power system reports the voltage, current and temperature of each power supply. Any out of range violation can be set to trigger an SNMP management alarm to allow quick corrective maintenance.

The high reliability of the dual-redundancy power system combined with its AC or 48VDC power options make the 1U 5-Module chassis the ideal choice in Point of Presence (POP), Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and Network Edge (NE) applications where reliability, modularity and space are critical.

The iConverter 5-Module Managed Power Chassis supports the entire family of In-Band or Out-of-Band SNMP managed media converters. Supporting 10, 100, 10/100, Gigabit Ethernet, T1, E1, OC-3 and OC-12 technologies, the iConverter family is suitable for LAN and MAN networks where copper to fiber, multimode fiber to single-mode fiber, dual fiber to single-fiber, or copper to coax conversions are required. Additional modules include redundant fiber or UTP, and a 4-port 10/100 switch module.

All iConverter modules are hot swappable and support four mounting options. They can be mounted in a 19-Module (2U, 3.5 inch high) or 5-Module (1U, 1.75 inch high) space-saving rack-mountable chassis (19-inch or 23-inch) with any combination of redundant AC and 48VDC power supplies. They can also be mounted in a 2-Module AC or 48VDC powered chassis or in a 1-Module AC powered chassis.

Management is accomplished by using an optional iConverter Network Management Module (NMM), which is capable of managing up to 16 iConverter chassis using a single IP address. The NMM can be accessed via Telnet or by using Omnitron’s NetOutlook SNMP-based management software or any other SNMP-based sofware package.

The intuitive NetOutlook network management software provides network administrators with real-time detailed port and module information as well as parameter configuration and event monitoring. NetOutlook can be used as a stand-alone application under Windows 9X/ME/XP/NT/2K or integrated with applications such as HP OpenView.

Using NetOutlook, fixed parameters that can be monitored on the 5-Module Chassis include the chassis type and model, manufacturing information, along with hardware and software revisions and serial numbers of the power supplies. Dynamic real-time parameters that can be monitored include voltage, current and temperature for the power supplies.

In addition to all standard iConverter SNMP traps such as module insertion and removal, the power supply modules can generate traps for out of voltage or chassis temperature range. All of these events can selectively be enabled or disabled to cause SNMP traps that alert the network administrator
