Now, beyond serving as your IT department’s IT department, we’re giving out awards to honor the hard work of your colleagues and friends. Everyone in IT deserves recognition for their efforts. Susan Chandler is a dedicated educator and IT Director with over 30 years of experience at the Jasper City Board of Education in Jasper, Alabama.

Since 1993, she has held multiple roles within the Jasper City school system where she has focused on supporting and enhancing student achievement through technology integration.

Her responsibilities include training, modeling, and assisting teachers in effectively incorporating technology into the classroom. She also oversees the management of both instructional and non-instructional microcomputer networks, ensuring smooth operation through regular updates, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software.

In addition to her technical expertise, Susan provides user training for network applications and coordinates with outside vendors, consultants, and trainers to support her district’s technology initiatives. Her work continues to play a vital role in advancing educational outcomes through innovative and efficient technology solutions.

Ed is a renaissance-styled asymmetrical thinker, crossing the intellectual and practical boundaries of enterprise and technology. Ed is known for stretching-the-box strategic thinking, allowing companies expand from “Now, New, Next.” An Industry Fellow at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology at UC Berkeley and executive coach, Ed brings unique insights coming from a diverse, eclectic set of rich experiences through a career that includes blue-collar teamster, global company leader, and eight-time startup executive (seed to IPO to buyout to disaster).

After he dropped out of college in his first year, he played billiards for three years—every day but Christmas. Ed was ranked sixth in the world playing three cushion billiards. He was part owner of a graphic design company whose first client was George Lucas and part owner of a microbrewery and two billiards clubs. Allen Clingerman is a leader in the enterprise data center architecture and IT professional sales and technical communities. With over 30 years of award-winning experience, Allen is an accomplished Technical Executive who is always at the forefront of innovation. He has spearheaded transformational initiatives with industry giants such as Google, Microsoft, Meta, eBay, Tesla, GE, MasterCard, Bank of America, CSX, Papa John’s, PGA Tour, F1, Disney, and many more.

Allen drives consistent, successful organizational change by leveraging a proven framework to guide customers and partners towards measurable business outcomes. His extensive architecture experience ranges from mainstream (mainframe to x86) and high-performance computing (HPC) to analytics and AI. He honed his skills by building programs and initiatives across North America at Dell, IBM, Citrix, Oracle, and Micro Focus.

Currently, he is responsible for driving the Dell Technologies AI Global Channel strategy. Recognized in the “Who's Who of the World” and featured in major IT publications globally, Allen is a respected figure in the industry. Outside of his professional life, Allen enjoys all things automotive and spending time on the water with his family in Florida.

Scott is known for his transparent and collaborative leadership style, exemplified through his recurring “IT Unplugged” sessions—open forums where employees across the organization engage in candid conversations about emerging technologies—including AI—and share feedback on tools like Microsoft Copilot. These sessions reflect his commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and inclusivity, where every voice contributes to shaping the company’s digital future. His ability to translate complex IT strategies into accessible, actionable insights has made him a trusted leader across departments.

He is a key member of executive leadership team at Connection, playing a pivotal role in shaping the company’s long-term technology roadmap. His vision continues to drive Connection’s evolution as a modern, agile enterprise that leverages technology not just to keep pace—but to lead.

Contest Details

Nominate your IT Superhero by July 7, 2025 to enter them into the contest. There are five categories to win, and one ultimate IT Superhero winner. Contest judges will select a winner for each category from among the nominees, and the Ultimate IT Superhero winner from the winners of the five categories.

Terms & Conditions

Nominee Eligibility
Eligible nominees include IT professionals who are not employed by or related to an employee of PC Connection, Inc. d/b/a Connection or its subsidiaries. Connection employees are not eligible to submit nominations. Self-nominations are welcome.

Dates and Nomination Process
Nominations are open from August 21, 2024—July 7, 2025. All nominations must be submitted via the IT Superhero award landing page (www.connection.com/ITawards) and must be 300 words or less. 

Judging Criteria
Nominees will be judged on professional accomplishments in IT, innovative problem solving and leadership. Please be sure to address these criteria when submitting a nomination.

Winners will be interviewed and may be featured in articles on various Connection owned media platforms, including, but not limited to the Connection website, social media channels and blogs. Please be sure to nominate only individuals who are willing to be interviewed and submit a high-resolution 300 dpi headshot.

Confirmation of Participant Compliance
Participants (including, without limitation, those employed by federal, state, or local governmental entities or institutions, public institutions, educational institutions, libraries, healthcare institutions or any other sector or organization governed by laws or regulations regarding the acceptance of any item of value).
