The Asix AX99100 chip also enables you to connect a DB9 device using the same controller card, compatible with industry standard 16950 UART. The serial port is ideal for connecting point of sale terminals, serial printers, PLCs, control/automation in factories, scientific sensors, medical equipment, scanners and oscilloscopes. The serial (COM) port supports bi-directional RS232 speeds up to 921.6Kbps per port, available 256 byte FIFO buffer & 9th data bit. The card also features an optional SATA power input that enables you to add power to pin 9 on the serial port, and adjusted the power output between 5V and 12V using a jumper on the PCB.

This add-on card installs in a full/standard-profile PCIe 2.0 x1 slot (backward compatible with PCIe 1.1). For wide platform support the card is compatible with Windows (7 or higher), Windows Server (2003 or higher), and Linux (2.6.X or higher).
