Four Important Steps to Your VDI Deployment

by Rick Sabarese | 01.28.16

Unlike versions past, Windows 10 is being touted for many things—from new mobile device management (MDM) and data protection features to helping enterprises better handle BYOD to across-the-board usability enhancements, including a major tweak to the Start menu and the addition of Cortana, Microsoft's popular digital assistant.

Start Your VDI Journey Today

Step 1: Proof of Concept Appliance

by Tony Dancona | 03.04.15

Desktop virtualization is one of the hottest buzz words in IT these days, and if you’re like a lot of organizations, you’re considering taking some of your infrastructure virtual. At Connection, we offer a number of services to get you started on that journey, from healthcheck services that test the overall efficiency of your infrastructure, to installation services when you’re ready to implement or upgrade. One of the most unique things we offer is our Proof of Concept (POC) Appliance, and I’d like to share a little bit about the benefits of using one of these as step one on your desktop virtualization journey.

VDI: Past and Present

Get Your Virtualization Engines Running Using Cisco UCS

by Tony Dancona | 02.17.15

There have been a lot of changes in desktop virtualization in the past year or so. Where once we were pretty happy if we could deliver a virtual desktop directly to a client that had specific software for receiving a virtual desktop, today we have so many more options. In reality, the VDI story has changed to the EUC story. VDI is certainly one of the important use cases (for users that are well-connected to the network), but end-user computing now addresses the other aspects, from a disconnected user to a modern application delivery system that gives us SSO access to apps, SAAS, content and desktops, through devices with a HTML5 browsers—all managed with an Enterprise Mobility Manager.

Enabling Your Virtual Environment

Cisco UCS Leverages VDI Methodology for Huge Differentiation

by Josh Feinberg | 01.07.15

Chances are that if your data center looks anything like the typical infrastructure we see on a day to day basis, you may be wasting money. I’d like to apologize if that seems rather straightforward, but it’s the truth. The deployment of virtualized environments facilitated by traditional blade server architectures is a movement that continues to be adopted by more and more companies. Like anything else, the devil is in the details—and the details aren’t being weighed appropriately.
