Still Thinking about Flash Storage?

Why Now Is the Time to Make the Move

by Jason Rivard | 09.29.16

By now, you probably know the big benefits of flash storage and solid state drives—faster, more reliable performance and quicker access to important data. But maybe your organization thinks it doesn’t really need that extra performance. Things are probably rolling along just fine in your old server closet. Day to day operations are completed on time, and your equipment still functions properly. Unfortunately, that might not be enough.

Flash Storage: Focusing on Your Needs

Upgrading Your Storage? Let Us Help.

by Aaron Russo | 05.15.15

Storage has evolved from devices the size of kitchen appliances that held less than 4MB to solid state drives smaller than a wallet. But, along with it, the decisions and potential consequences of those decisions have evolved as well. There’s really no bad decision to be made in the terms of storage—well, other than not buying enough—but there are decisions that can drain your budget while offering little or no ROI.

News Flash—Flash Storage Isn’t As Expensive As You Think

Increase Performance without Increasing Costs

by Kurt Hildebrand | 02.27.15

Flash storage offers dramatically faster performance over traditional spinning magnetic disk storage technology, but many enterprises have postponed adoption of it because of cost concerns. But it’s not as expensive as you think.

“When the storage efficiency techniques and the ability to safely use lower-cost memory are combined, all-flash storage systems can typically match the price of high-performance, tier 1, HDD-based storage systems,” says Storage Switzerland Senior Analyst George Crump. “What’s more, they’re now working their way into the price-band of tier 2 storage systems.”

IT faces a number of competing storage priorities: increasing capacity, enhancing performance, and continuously driving down the cost per gigabyte. When using traditional spinning magnetic disk storage technology, these demands are difficult to meet.
